The Felucca Bax backpack is a sister to the Felucca purse. Propelled by billowing white sails, feluccas have been a primary mode of transportation on Egypt’s Nile river since the time of the Pharaohs. But while other tourists saw traditional wooden sail boats, Hester saw a graceful form and elegant silhouette that could be echoed in a bag.
The shape of this bag’s flap evokes the dynamics of the sail, while the straps echo the mast and serve as a visual and functional focal point of the Felucca’s design. The bag is closed, literally, by “pulling at the mast.”
